About the Role

Britannia has an excellent opportunity for a Claims Handler to join us a Fleet Manager handling both P&I and FD&D claims. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual who is passionate about maritime insurance and will thrive as part of a small and friendly team.

Your Responsibilities

The role holder will have responsibility for handling allocated Freight, Demurrage and Defence and Protection & Indemnity claims in accordance with the Claims Department’s manual and guidelines.

You will provide an exceptional claims service to the Club’s Members within designated authority levels including:

  • assessing risk and liability through collecting, analysing and assimilating information.
  • providing advice or recommendations to Members, on claims handling strategy to resolve the claim in the most cost effective and expedient manner.
  • raising estimates, processing payments and reimbursements and liaising with the appointed Divisional Director assigned to a geographical region.
  • maintaining regular reviews of claims and estimates strictly in accordance with the Club’s requirements.
  • maintaining an appropriate diary review in respect of time bars and key dates.
  • assessing whether cases are covered and should be supported, monitoring likely costs, requesting budgetary support and, in the event of any issue/s arising, liaising with Divisional Director.
  • document management and administration of electronic files to ensure ready accessibility in accordance with the Club’s requirements.
  • contractual review (service agreements, towage contracts, rail sub-contracts, conditions of Use agreements etc.).
  • participation in both internal and external training seminars and programmes as required.
  • attending internal meetings with lawyers, correspondents, surveyors and experts as appropriate.

About You

You will enjoy working on a variety of claims as part of a small team. The role holder will have experience working on FD&D claims gained from a P&I club, insurer, law firm, ship owner or ship agent.  You will be legally qualified in the UK with a minimum of 3 years PQE.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Construction Lawyer with 1-2 years post-qualified experience who is looking to move into their second job and keen to develop their knowledge and expertise in construction law.

You will be joining a team of 17 solicitors and legal executives. Together we assist Wren’s Members to be appointed on terms falling within their cover and handle any resulting claims.

The role is responsible for reviewing architects’ appointment and other ancillary documents, negotiating amendments and working closely with Members of Wren. You will also attend meetings with and give presentations to Members to explain coverage issues.

Candidates will have experience of non-contentious construction law, preferably gained from within a law firm or other inhouse legal teams and will be familiar with professional indemnity matters relating to construction professionals. You will be legally qualified in the UK or QLTT.

The role

The Claims Manager is responsible for liaising with Members in respect of claims, handling of professional indemnity claims against construction professionals. You will be attending meetings, mediations, hearings etc with Members and solicitors as well as providing liability advice to members. You will be joining a team of 17 solicitors and legal executives. Together you will assist Wren’s Members to be appointed on terms falling within their cover and handle any resulting claims.

Main duties will include:

  • Handling claims and reporting to claims directors/Legal Affairs Director
  • Liaison with Members in respect of claims.
  • Claims reserving in line with the Wren Procedures Manual.
  • Regular re-estimation of claims.
  • Identifying issues of coverage/late notification for consideration with claims directors/Legal Affairs Director.
  • Attending meetings, mediations, hearings etc with Members and solicitors.
  • Providing liability advice to Members
  • Instructing and managing the input of external legal and expert advisers engaged on claims

Experience required

Candidates will have preferably gained experience from within a law firm or other inhouse legal teams and will be familiar with professional indemnity matters relating to construction professionals. From an early stage, you will be able to manage active claims. You will be legally qualified in the UK or QLTT with a minimum of 5 years PQE.

The Role

We are looking for a qualified Actuary (FIA) to join our Actuarial team on a part -time basis (3 days per week) to work on reserving and capital. The focus will be on improving the existing processes and developing new approaches to reflect changing regulatory landscapes.

Primarily the role will focus on Britannia P&I club but with opportunities to get involved with the two Professional Indemnity mutuals, Wren and Griffin. This role will have a meaningful impact on data-driven decision making across our three Insurance Associations.

You will join a dedicated team of 8 and report to the Chief Actuary.

Main duties will include:

Reserving:

  • Supporting the evolution of the reserving approach to incorporate an early close process
  • Develop more granular reserving analysis (e.g. alternative segmentation of the portfolio)
  • Embed the IFRS17 solution (for one branch)

Capital:

  • Support the development of the existing (non-approved) internal model
  • Research new capital regimes (Hong Kong, Japan, Solvency UK) and build the team’s capabilities to calculate them

The successful applicant will be able to drive forward changes and delegate work to the existing actuarial team to embed it into existing processes.

The individual may be required to undertake other duties from time to time as the company may reasonably require.

Experience Required

  • Actuary with significant years of experience in Reserving.

Desirable

  • Experience in Solvency II capital regime.
  • Fellow of IFoA or other actuarial body (e.g. FCAS)
  • Knowledge of ResQ and R would be useful.

As a Service Desk Manager, you will be responsible for leading and working as part of a small Helpdesk team to ensure the delivery of exceptional customer service while effectively resolving all technical support issues globally.

The role reports to the Head of Technology. We are looking for a strong technical background complemented by extensive customer service experience. The ideal candidate will have a problem-solving mindset and the ability to lead the team to achieve specific goals.

Your Responsibilities

  • Manage the Helpdesk support function and staff across all regions. This includes support provided by 3rd party organisations. Manage the rota for out of hours support and routine maintenance checks as required by the business.
  • Monitor and report on the performance of the Helpdesk service to ensure SLAs are being met across the board and proactively address emerging issues or problems.
  • Develop and enhance the Helpdesk framework and lead the Helpdesk team to optimise service delivery and deliver quality solutions with agreed SLAs across the business.
  • Operate within the ITIL v4 framework for service delivery and establish best practices through the entire technical support process.
  • Contribute to improving customer support by actively responding to queries and handling complaints. Follow up with customers to identify areas of improvement.
  • Ensure that the Helpdesk team is equipped with the necessary tools and skills to provide support to the business.
  • Provide training and advice to users, both in response to identified difficulties, and for new technologies as they are implemented.
  • Responsible for the management, configuration, and maintenance of all end user devices such as laptops, mobile phones and tablets.
  • Review and respond to out of hours critical alerts as required.

About You

Knowledge/Experience

  • A minimum of 3 years’ management experience in a Service Desk/IT helpdesk role gained in an international organisation using ITIL V4 principles.
  • Managing a distributed team in different regions and time zone to always to deliver quality service to customers.
  • Experience of managing, mentoring and coaching team members to support ensure they have sufficient skills to deliver their objectives and projects in a timely, professional manner.
  • Monitoring service desk performance by way of SLAs and customer satisfaction to ensure the effective delivery.
  • Implementing and managing Service Desk systems such as ServiceDesk Plus and ServiceNow.
  • Experienced user and administrator of Microsoft 365 and Mimecast.
  • Windows 10 and 11 build, auto-pilot configuration and iPhone / iOS MDM enrolment and management using MS Endpoint manager.
  • Securing endpoints through preventive maintenance, patching, vulnerability management and Cyber Security tools like Sophos and Qualys.
  • Asset and License management.
  • Document processes and procedures in line with company and industry standards.

Desirable

  • Zero Trust technologies such as Cloud Flare Warp.
  • ITIL principles and processes with level V4 foundation certification.
  • Manage and provide customer training using current and new tools including multi-media and in-person.
